25 Beautiful Homes Magazine

We are extremely pleased to announce that one of our most prestigious client projects is featured in the November issue of leading interiors magazine 25 Beautiful Homes, even making the cover!

Westerleigh Cottage is a beautiful Cotswold stone period property in rural Cowley, right on the edge of Cheltenham. The cottage is owned by Sarah Astman and Simon Colenutt and Pittville Bathrooms and Kitchens provided a full project management service, from damp proofing to hanging handmade wallpaper and everything in between.

25 Beautiful Homes p39

The finished property has many standout features, from the V&A bathroom suite to the specially designed curved wall for the master en-suite. The woodland patterned wallpaper used created a sense of warmth and luxury to enhance the large-scale features of the bedroom.

25 Beautiful Homes p37

The ground-floor incorporates vibrant colours such as the striking kitchen island painted in deep blue, mixed with natural materials and timeless pieces, to create a contemporary country feel.

25 Beautiful Homes p36

The whole house was transformed to allow the stunning natural features and Sarah’s design to take centre stage.

We hope you agree that the finished property as featured here is an absolute triumph and a great showcase for Sarah’s new business, Sarah Astman Interiors.

Our MD Simon Butland says “Westerleigh Cottage was a little tired and unloved when Sarah and Simon first purchased it. Sarah’s vision combined with our experienced craftsmen and a lot of hard work has resulted in a stunning and relaxing home environment with all mod cons. Our full project management service is available on request for e everything from forever homes to rental properties, whether you want a little advice or a full refurbishment our expert team are on hand.

Go for gold!

Bathrooms take centre stage this season with pops of gold, silver and bronze instantly lifting the space from plain to striking. Following the incredible success of Team GB at the Rio Olympics & Paralympics this summer, it seems gold fever is spreading and there’s no signs of it stopping yet! Think gold bathtubs, bronze chandeliers, silver wallpaper and rose gold fittings.

How to use this trend

A statement brass bathtub, like the one above featured on Housetohome.co.uk and chosen by Livingetc magazine, makes a bold statement and transforms the room into an elegant, sophisticated, luxurious haven.

If you want to opt for something subtler, use gold taps, handles and shower heads for a touch of opulence.

Add a touch of the midas with these by The Axor brand from Hansgrohe

Worried about the longevity of the trend? Opt for transient items, like accessories and light fittings, which can easily and inexpensively change as your style does. If you would like your mixer to have a particular finish or display your monogram, a crest or a logo on the mixer, then take a look at The Axor brand, which offers you diversity and the allure of personal bathroom lifestyles, available exclusively from Pittville Bathrooms & Kitchens.

The Bath/Living Room

We identified this trend earlier this year (see our Home Interior Design Trends to Watch Out for in 2016 post) but for autumn/winter 2016 it goes one step further. The bathroom is blending into the living spaces within the home, blurring the lines between an exclusively practical room, to one the whole family can enjoy. And why not! With so much time spent in the bathroom and a lot of money invested in improving it, it’s about time the bathroom took the spotlight! Think open plan en suite/bedrooms, family bathrooms that make the most of feature fireplaces with seating and soft furnishing, and materials like Corian, wood and wallpaper – often reserved for the living room and kitchen – making an appearance in the bathroom.

How to use this trend

If you have a space-saving en suite, consider incorporating it into the bedroom by removing some internal walls completely, or replacing them with internal windows, sliding or screen doors and run the flooring from the bedroom into the en suite.

Use soft furnishings such as rugs, lamps, side tables, candles, seating and bookshelves to make the bathroom a useable living space. If your property includes a fireplace in the bathroom (as many period properties do) make the most of it by reinstating it. Not possible? No problem, place a mirror on the wall above and surround it with candles or soft LED lighting.

Pittville Bathrooms & Kitchens

Creating an accessible kitchen that can be both practical and stylish for people living with limited mobility or disabilities has never been more exciting! With the range of clever products and adaptations now available, you can create a place in your home that is both beautiful and functional.

Our Kitchen Designer Lindsay Merchant is a specialist in adapting kitchens to make them practical and accessible. She uses her expertise to create specially designed accessible spaces for people with limited mobility or disabilities.

Lindsay combines clever storage solutions at mid- or low-level and accessible appliances at eye-level to create a functional space. Her smart solutions are carefully planned and expertly executed by the experienced team here at Pittville Bathrooms & Kitchens.

Lindsay focuses on planning the kitchen to minimise the need to bend down or climb up to reach items, instead making them easily accessible from whatever height the client feels most comfortable.

Breakfast bars at mid- to low-level can be used with chairs rather than high stools, enabling you to retain the stylish, social design of a bar while making it easy to use.

Wall units are fitted to a height that is best suited to the individual, enabling contents within them to be easily reached. Lindsay ensures all accessible kitchens are designed with no potential trip hazards or sharp edges. She creates wide, open spaces that encourage free movement around the kitchen; ensuring wheelchair users are able to move easily throughout the space.

As we get older our domestic requirements may change and often our kitchens and bathrooms become impractical, or less enjoyable to use. We understand this and have worked with many clients who choose to downsize their home and want to recreate a kitchen or bathroom similar to one they had in their family home. We work with clients to create an accessible, practical kitchen or bathroom that is both contemporary and stylish. By combining clever design with cutting edge products, we can create a beautiful, accessible space that is unique to you.

Pittville Bathrooms & Kitchens

Silenia wardrobes by Pittville Bathrooms & Kitchens, featured in the King’s Hollow show home by Marcus Homes

We enjoy hunting down the very best in quality and design and that’s why we are a leading local supplier of the exclusive Italian designer furniture brand Silenia.

We’ve diversified in recent years to offer design, supply and installation of bespoke living spaces and bedrooms due to high demand from both private and industry clients, who wanted our expert design skills applied beyond the bathroom and kitchen and across the wider home. Cheltenham-based property developer Marcus Homes called on us to design the new show home for its latest landmark development in Charlton Kings, using the exclusive Silenia furniture in the bedrooms.

Silenia, based in North East Italy and established nearly 45 years ago, claim to have designed the first truly integrated modular furniture using innovative design and quality craftsmanship.

Managing Director, Simon Butland, said:

“Pittville Bathrooms & Kitchens prides itself on providing the highest quality for our clients, from customer service to innovative design, expert installation to the products we use. Silenia produce furniture that incorporates innovation with aesthetics and functionality. Their furniture is versatile and attractive and our customers are thrilled with the result.”

Dare to be bold!

This year is all about making a statement, letting your personality shine through and not being afraid to be bold. Yes, minimal white kitchens look beautiful and when accessorised well, can be very striking. But they can also be a pain to keep spotlessly clean, especially if you’re pressed for time or have a family. Don’t be afraid to take a risk with your interior design. If you’re indecisive or can’t bring yourself to make the leap, opt for bold accessories that can be easily changed. Mirrors, wall art, handles, rugs and lighting are all great ways to add personality to a space without long-term commitment.

Pittville Kitchens and Bathrooms

Being bold with your design choices can really pay off. This striking, all-white bathroom with contrasting sinks we fitted for a client gives the space a sophisticated, intimate, luxury spa feel.

Mix & Match

On the subject of being bold, mix & match is a key trend for 2016. This works particularly well in a kitchen, using one style of cabinet on the walls and a different style for base units, or a statement island. Try mixing colours and textures to create an eye-catching kitchen that will set you apart from the rest.

PBK

For a subtler mix & match look, opt for a neutral colour palette and complementary colours, like this beautiful show home kitchen we fitted for Marcus Homes at King’s Hollow.

More than just a bathroom

This year is all about transforming the bathroom from simply a practical space, often overrun with clutter, into a space you can relax, refresh and indulge in. Bathrooms are starting to feel more like living spaces, with the addition of comfortable seating and soft furnishings, like rugs, side tables, fresh flowers and books. Key to this trend is a clever design that incorporates enough storage to hide away clutter, and maximizes available space for comfortable seating. Make your bathroom feel more like a spa with clever zoned lighting and sound system technology.

Durable Products

With so many products available it can be difficult deciding which you should choose. Although price doesn’t always equal quality, be cautious of products that are particularly cheap. In order to manufacture these products at a price that will keep the cost as low as possible for the customer, the materials and manufacturing techniques used are often substandard, resulting in a poorly constructed product that may not stand the test of time.

All the products we offer are sourced by our experienced kitchen and bathroom designers, who understand the importance of style and substance. They can help you choose products that are durable, functional and beautiful.

BAGNODESIGN combines quality materials with beautiful design to create products that bring a touch of luxury to your bathroom.

Careful Installation

Organising the installation of your meticulously designed kitchen or bathroom can be stressful. Not only do you have the products themselves to install, but there is also tiling, lighting, heating and decorating to consider. Trying to manage different contractors to complete the work on time, without any hiccups, can be one of the hardest parts of a project.

We take the hassle out of the installation process. All our fitters and installers are closely project managed, ensuring a smooth installation carried out to the highest standard. We provide a complete service of plumbing, carpentry and joinery, tiling, electrics, plastering and decoration. Being environmentally conscious is important to us, so we ensure waste is managed and recycled wherever possible.

Finishing Touches

It’s all too easy to forget those finishing touches that take a kitchen or bathroom from simply a functional space, to one that you can enjoy, indulge and unwind in.

Whether it’s an LED backlight mirror with integrated Bluetooth soundsystem, or an integrated ‘bean-to-cup’ coffee machine, don’t forget to add features that will bring you enjoyment and make your kitchen or bathroom unique!

Boutique luxury

Luxury hotel bathrooms are a thing of beauty and indulgence. To recreate this look at home be brave; don’t be afraid to use statement tiles, feature lighting and eye-catching mirrors. If space is limited then keep it simple with sleek, modern items. If you can accommodate it, a freestanding bath is a fantastic way to get that boutique hotel feel at home. The Amalfi Freestanding Bath from Victoria + Albert is a great way to achieve a modern luxury look.

Scandinavian Style

Scandinavian design prides itself on keeping it simple, functional and attractive. Minimalist suites that combine crisp white ceramic with pale natural wood, such as the Vero range from Duravit in Ticino Cherry Tree finish, are ideal for creating a serene, Scandi-inspired environment. Key to this trend is sticking to a limited, natural colour palette.
